Internationale Vereinigung der Vermessungsingenieure
I would like to wish you a Happy New Year and all the best for the
upcoming year 2025.
A very big thanks to all who have contributed to FIG during 2024
whether it is through a Commission, Network, Task Force or by attending
one of the many events that have been held throughout the year -
especially FIG Working Week 2024 in Accra, Ghana and the FIG Regional
Conference in Nepal. Your involvement and efforts keep FIG vibrant,
relevant and at the forefront of empowering surveyors, geospatial
experts, valuers, and related professions to create meaningful change
and make the world a better place. It makes me very proud to be part of
such an organisation and profession!
A special thanks goes to all Chairs, Council Members, Local Organising
Committees and other key individuals who drive these many initiatives,
led competently and passionately by FIG President Diane Dumashie. I
dare not think how many man/women-hours that are invested into this
work... Thank you!
Looking ahead, 2025 promises to be another exciting year for FIG,
filled with opportinities to connect, network and contribute to
impactful initiatives and projects. A few highlights: FIG Working Week
2025 in Brisbane, Australia, 6-10 April where the General Assembly will
elect new Commission Chairs Elects to shape the future activities of
FIG, online 60-Minutes-Knowledge Meeting on AVM in January, the Third
Arab Land Conference in February in Morocco, 6th Joint International
Symposium on Deformation Monitoring (JISDM) in April in Germany,
"Building Back Better the Self-Made Cities" Conference in Greece in
June, focused on improving geospatial data ecosystems and formalizing
informal settlements, with involvement from FIG Honorary President
Chryssy Potsiou. And there is more to come!
Thank you for making 2024 remarkable. I look forward to an exciting
2025 with each of you!
