During the FIG Working Week 2017 in Helsinki, Finland, the 40th FIG General Assembly was held; the first session on 29 May and second session on 2 June 2017. The key note speaker of the Working Week was Ed Parsons, who is the  Geospatial Technologist of Google, with responsibility for evangelising Google’s mission to organise the world’s information using geography. In this role he maintains links with Governments, Universities, Research and Standards Organisations which are involved in the development of Geospatial Technology.
